Students at Utah have a great variety of options when it comes to choosing a chemistry major.Students who are curious about taking a chemistry degree can enroll in a course in the introductory level. This course, which is called Intro Chem 101, introduces students to the basic concepts of chemistry and makes them comfortable with the topic. In order to graduate, the student must complete all course requirements in the introductory level and take a written exam.Students who want to specialize in any one field can find chemistry courses that fit their needs. Students who want to major in organic chemistry can take a class that focuses on the chemical properties of various plant-based substances. A typical class would be one that t eaches people how to make compounds and prepare them for use in experiments. Students who choose this path will learn to prepare chemicals and minerals that can be used to analyze things such as osmosis, corrosion, and solubility.A student who is interested in pursuing a chemical engineering degree can also look at what classes he or she would need to take in order to earn his or her degree. Students who have an interest in working with chemicals can learn about how to prepare different compounds for use in experiments. These students can also be involved in designing laboratory equipment, synthesizing products, and finding a proper place to store laboratory waste.People who are interested in working with biology and chemistry in addition to engineering will want to take courses in bioengineering. Biology and chemistry are both part of the science of engineering, which means that a student can also be taking courses that focus on using bio-science in his or her engineering work. Stu dents will learn about how plants and animals can help design things like bio-products for the uses of humans. Students who want to get their engineering degree can consider taking a final science course. These classes usually include the principles of nuclear physics, probability, statistics, calculus, and elementary statistics. These classes allow students to study the things that affect the world itself.At the University of Utah, chemistry majors can choose to make the most of the opportunities offered by this university. By choosing a good chemistry program, a student can make a career out of developing these chemical elements.

Using Your University's Career Center In Your Internship Search Image via. https://pixabay.com/en/road-sign-town-sign-success-career-798176/ Most university career centers offer the same services: (1) writing a cover letter, (2) writing/editing your resume, (3) asking for letters of recommendation, (4) interview practice, (5) putting together a portfolio, (6) how to start your job/internship search, and much more. In order for these services to be useful to you (in my opinion), you need to make a few appointments with a couple of different career counselors and student volunteers to make sure you find someone who you connect with. Yes, it’s helpful to just make an appointment in general, but if you continue going to the same person he/she will already know what you are looking for in an internship and there will be no need for introductions that ultimately just take up valuable time that could be spent on finding an internship. Go through all of the steps with your career counselor… by this, I mean use all of the services offered to you. In order for your trips to the career center to be effective, you need to come prepared as well. Your counselor cannot and will not do all of the work for you… this is your internship and your future, you need to remain accountable. If you want to work on your resume and/or cover letter, make sure you have a rough draft. If you are ready to hit “Apply” to an internship, make sure you have your computer charged and ready for your career counselor to check over it. If you are prepping for an interview, come in your potential interview outfit and a list of questions that you researched that are asked by the particular company. Your appointments with the career center will only work if you put in the time and effort. Think of it this way, your career counselor has no stake in whether or not you land an internship, only you do. Therefore, you will need to go the extra mile. I know that may sound harsh, but tough love is the best kind of love when it comes to internship search time. Starting early in the year to search for an internship is step #1 in preparedness. Make appointments ahead of time and begin networking and researching before your very first appointment. If you are afraid of asking a company or friends a silly question about your internship research, then ask your career counselor the question. He/she is there to help and he/she has definitely heard a lot worse. You want to go into this process confident and excited, and that can only happen if all of your questions are answered. If you don’t know what to ask, here are some great questions to ask your career center: Is this a nice format/template for my resume and cover letter? Is it professional? Is this a good outfit for an interview at a company that dresses business-formal? What are some good places to find internship listings? How can I differentiate a real internship from a scam on the internet? How can I personalize a different cover letter for each of the places I apply to? What information should I definitely include? How far back can I go when noting my experiences on my resume? Is it okay if I have an experience from high school on there? What are some major questions that are asked in most interviews? Are websites, like Glass Door, useful? What are the pros and cons of an unpaid internship? Ask your questions, go prepared, and start the process early. Keep organized and stay on top of your internship search. I have no doubt that all of you will land the internship of your dreams. One last piece of advice from me… keep an open mind and apply to a bunch of different types of internships! Good luck!

A solubility rule states that two liquids cannot combine unless the level of one of them is higher than the level of the other. For example, if a chemical is mixed with water then the two liquids cannot combine unless the level of one of them is higher than the level of the other. Thus, the level of one of the liquids must be higher than the level of the other before they can combine.Another example of a solubility rule is that it means that if a chemical is mixed with water, the levels of the other liquids will be the same as the level of the original chemical. If a chemical is mixed with alcohol then there will be no alcohol in the solution. This rule will help the student to handle the problem of dilution. If a student takes a concentration solution then he must mix the concentration with the chemical in order to increase the level of the chemical and thus dilute the solution. The result will be that the concentration of the chemical will be higher and this will reduce the concentration of the other chemical.Since the solubility rules are so important, it is vital that the student learns all about these rules in order to help him in dealing with the problems that arise in chemistry. This is the responsibility of the Chemistry tutor, and the sooner the student understands the importance of these rules, the better.

Essentials Of The New STAAR Tests The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) is a series of standardized exams used by Texas public schools students to assess students academic abilities. The STAAR test is based on state standards which provide a framework for the material students should be learning in the classroom each year. The exam measures the academic achievement and learning in other words, to evaluate how well students are meeting Texas grade-level expectations. Public school students are not the only ones required to take the STAAR assessment. Any charter school, private school, or homeschooling that collects financial support from the state of Texas must complete the four-hour exam as well. The STAAR grade-level and end-of-course exams are designed to assess material covered by Texas official, state-mandated curriculum for kindergarten through twelfth grade. In other words, STAAR tests how well students have developed the required knowledge and abilities. STAAR is designed by Pearson Education Company, which works with teachers and the Texas Education Agency (the division of the state government responsible for public education) to insure that material is grade-appropriate. STAAR replaced the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) in spring 2012 after the Texas State Senate abolished the TAKS exam in 2007. TAKS had been in place since 2003. Students who began 9th grade before the 2011-12 school year will continue to take the TAKS exam, and will be the last generation to do so. Students who are expected to graduate in 2015 will be the first class who must pass all of their courses as well as fulfill state-mandated end-of-course examination requirements in order to receive a diploma. STAAR tests the same subjects as the former TAKS for elementary and middle school students. Material varies by grade. Third through eighth graders are assessed on their reading and mathematical skills. Fourth and seventh graders are tested on their writing and composition abilities. Fifth and eighth graders must take a science assessment. Only eighth graders are required to complete a social studies test. Where high school students were once required to take grade-specific exams, they now must complete end-of-course exams that are subject-specific. These subjects include biology, chemistry, physics, Algebra I, geometry, Algebra II, world geography, world history, U.S. history, English I, English II, and English III. Many of TAKS policies carry over onto the STAAR exam; the two standardized tests are very similar. However, the new STAAR is much more rigorous than the previous TAKS. It is designed to measure individual performance in various subjects as well as academic growth. Texas STAAR exam assists educators and parents in determining whether students are making satisfactory progress towards acquiring the necessary academic knowledge and skills. State law mandates that students must possess the sufficient skills in order to graduate. Test results are used as part of an accountability system for public schools to insure that the proper, grade-appropriate curriculum is being used in classrooms across the state. STAAR test results will also let parents and educators know if students may need additional support or educational assistance in order to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
